I have been a single mom for over a decade now – a DECADE!  Although these last 10 years have had many ups and downs, I can honestly say I have enjoyed every moment.  I have never walked this journey alone as a believer, the Lord has guided me and comforted me through it all.  Jesus is my Rock, my Strength, and my Defender. Because of Him alone have I been able to walk this path with so much joy and contentment that I can truly say – I am thriving as a single mom.

I am also a survivor of an abusive marriage and it is my hope and prayer that I can help others who are leaving these situations to find hope.  I know what it is to be scared – for yourself and your children.  I know the struggle of desiring to remain married and the guilt of facing divorce – even when justified.

Through these blogs, I hope to share my story so that others may find hope.  Being a single mom isn’t easy, but it can be extremely rewarding.  I also hope and pray that church leaders will stumble upon these blogs and gain a better understanding of single moms and our unique struggles.  Most churches don’t have bible studies or ministries directed towards the single mom and this is an area that is needed.  Unfortunately, non-traditional families are on the rise in the United States, single parent households included (pewresearch.org) and the Church can respond…we all can.
